More than just a restaurant

Our seaside restaurant in Bayahibe does not only concentrate itself on good food and fine bistro dining! Most of our regular customers already know that Saona Cafe is also known for its events and party atmosphere! Friday may 13th a fun gathering took place in our bar and terrace section which has never been seen in Bayahibe before. Although Body Art has been popular elsewhere in the world for quite some time, curiosity killed the cat here in Dominican Republic as people poured in to see Canadian artist Rémy Audette from REM-X Body Art show off his talent on models and outgoing minds!

All about the ART and the ARTIST

At a younger age, Remy Audette (REM-X) was a disciple of the arts as he spent the majority of his time drawing. Soon after receiving his Bachelor degree in Industrial Design and earning a special university award, Hype1 Magazine introduced him as a multi talented Art Designer and Art Director all before the age of 26. But it’s in the field of body painting that REM-X mostly devoted his creativity and inspirations. He founded his company using his artist name REM-X, because it reflects REM-X’s philosophy as he does not pretend to reinvent the notes nor the styles.

For him, painting is like remixing a melody. Not surprising then that REM-X won third prize at the International Body Painting contest, Color Mundo, held in Montreal in 2007. He also earned a third place in 2008 at Face and Body Art Convention in Orlando. Since then, organizations from many major cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Toronto, have shown more interest in his work and talent. REM-X proudly participated in many events like fund raisers for the Red Cross of Canada, magazine launchings in Montreal, Canada and is highly recognized at hotel Le St-James, festival Osheaga, Tattoo Conventions and international car shows! He also serves several glam openings, thematic evenings, movie, videos clip and more!
